KERNOW FOIL CLASSIC JUDGING CRITERIA

+5* JUDGES
+WAVES SCORED ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10 WITH 1 DECIMAL PLACE
+FOR EACH WAVE SCORE THE HIGHEST AND LOWEST OF THE JUDGES 5 SCORES ARE DISCARDED AND AN AVERAGE IS TAKEN OF THE REMAINING 3 SCORES
+2 HIGHEST WAVE SCORE COMBINED FOR EACH RIDER
+PERFECT WAVE = 10 PERFECT HEAT SCORE = 20

COMPETITOR PRIORITY ON WAVE RIDING

+GENTLEMAN'S RULES, THERE IS NO PRIORITY JUDGE BUT ANY COMPETITOR CAUGHT FOUL OF THE BELOW RULES MAY FACE ELIMINATION
+GIVE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL COMPETITORS TO CATCH AND RIDE WAVES +RIDER TO THEIR FEET FIRST HAS PRIORITY.

+TAKING OFF CLOSEST TO THE BREAKING SECTION HAS RIGHT OF WAY OVER COMPETITORS TAKING OFF AS FAR OUT BUT DOWN THE LINE
+ONCE YOU HAVE RODE A WAVE AND CAME OFF FOIL YOU GO TO LAST PRIORITY SPOT AND MUST GIVE WAY TO ANY OTHER RIDERS EVEN IF YOU TAKE OFF FURTHER OUT OR CLOSEST TO BREAKING SECTION COMPARED TO YOUR COMPETITORS BEFORE ITS YOUR TURN.

+YOU MUST MAKE EVERY ATTEMPT TO NOT GET IN THE WAY OF THE RIDER WHO IS RIDING THEIR PRIORITY WAVE/WAVES
+IF YOU CAUSE ANOTHER RIDER TO NOT CATCH A WAVE YOU GO BENEATH THAT RIDER IN PRIORITY FOR RIDING THE NEXT WAVE

+EVERY ATTEMPT MUST BE MADE TO AVOID COLLISION FROM ALL RIDERS REGARDLESS OF PRIORITY(judgement can be made on incidences at heat closure) +PUMPING - YOU CAN HAVE PRIORITY OVER THE REST OF YOUR COMPETITORS FOR ONE WAVE CONNECTION CAUGHT VIA PUMPING.. HOWEVER WHEN YOU ARE PUMPING BACK OUT YOU MUST GIVE WAY TO ANY OTHER RIDER WHO IS ALREADY TO THEIR FEET RIDING A WAVE

+NEVER MORE THAN ONE RIDER PER WAVE UNLESS USING THAT WAVE WITH THE SOLE INTENTION TO GET ON FOIL AND PUMP TO ANOTHER WAVE WITHOUT HINDERING THE PRIORITY RIDERS SCORING ABILITY.

COMMITMENT AND DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY

+THE TYPES OF MOVEMENTS THAT THE RIDER PERFORMS AND HOW DIFFICULT THEY ARE TO PERFORM.
+RIDERS ARE REWARDED FOR HIGHER RISK MANOEUVRES. JUDGES WILL ALSO LOOK AT HOW COMMITTED A RIDER IS TO MAXIMISING THE WAVES POTENTIAL

Example: turns closest to the breaking section and/or steepest section and/or fully utilising wave face and/or vertical approach into manoeuvres and/or how long the turn is held and/or amount of direction change

COMBINATION OF MAJOR MANOEUVRES

+HOW WELL A RIDER CONNECTS BIG HIGHER SCORING MOVES TOGETHER

Example: the least amount of time and/or excess movements and/or wave wasted in between manoeuvres

SPEED POWER FLOW

+HOW FAST THE RIDER IS GOING ON THE WAVE AND HOW QUICKLY THEY ARE ADAPTING TO THE WAVES SPEED
+FLOW IS THE WAY IN WHICH A RIDER SEEMLESSLY CONNECTS THEIR MOVES FROM ONE TO THE NEXT no wasted movements, maximising wave energy to do this

+HOW MUCH POWER IS THE RIDER PUTTING INTO THEIR MANOEUVRES. HOW ARE THEY LOADING UP AND PUSHING THROUGH THEIR TURNS not letting the foil overpower them

VARIETY OF MANOEUVRES

+HOW MANY DIFFERENT KINDS OF MANOEUVRES IS A RIDER PERFORMING.
+NOTE THAT THE QUALITY OF PERFORMANCE OF THE ABOVE SCORING CRITERIA IS SCORED MORE HEAVILY AND SHOULD NOT BE SACRIFICED TO PERFORM VARIETY ALONE
Example: variety could include turns with varying radius and/or amount of direction change and/or different entry angles up face and/or lip or white water hits and/or air manoeuvres

INNOVATIVE AND PROGRESSIVE MANOEUVRES

+IS THE RIDER PUSHING BOUNDARIES AND DOING INNOVATIVE MANOEUVRES LIKE AERIALS AND LIP OR WHITE WATER HITS. RELEASING WING TIPS OR ENTIRE FOIL FROM THE WATER DURING TURNS.
+CARVING MANOEUVRES DONE AT HIGH SPEED WITH MAXIMUM BANKS ANGLES IN CRITICAL SECTIONS ENTERED INTO WITH A VERTICAL ANGLE CAN ALSO BE CONSIDERED PROGRESSIVE
